Next Trahan Family Association Meeting:

The next gathering of our Trahan Family Assoc. will be in conjunction with the Grand Réveil Acadien (Great Acadian Awakening) being prepared for at the Lafayette  Cajundome Convention Center on October 13, 2011.  This event is being undertaken by several  Acadian leaders as a means of continuing our Culture, Language, Cusine, etc. between Congre Mondial (Acadian Congress) held every five years somewhere in Francophone locales.  Being we were not fortunate to win the franchise for the upcoming Congre in 2014, we decided to hold our own gathering, with all interested families at one site. 

For a full table of events, please log on to www.gra2011.org and visit the different pages on the site, especially the one titled “Events.”  One of the really wonderful  part of this gathering, a lot of planning and work has been evolving concerning our young people who will be a big part of this celebration.  The family events will open at 9:00 am and close at 4:00 pm in preparation for the evening events.

Many family organizations have already reserved display tables, including the Trahan Assoc., to display their genealogy chart, some with items for sale.  But most importantly, much space is being allocated for just plain conversations, with seating and tables in the foyers.

A luncheon is being set up, by reservation, to be cooked by a Canadian Chef.  The cost of this is $20.00 and the ticket can be ordered from the Gra2011 web site, from the “Event” page, at top of page noted as “Donation and Pay”, going down the page and furnishing name and paying through PayPal.  Tickets will also be available at the registration tables at the Convention Center for about one hour on the morning of October 13, or if either of these options is not adaptable for you, simply mail me a check for the tickets, at $20.00 per person along with the name and address of each person, and the ticket and registration packet will be waiting at the Registration Table in the lobby of Convention Center.  Make the check out to Louisiane-Acadie, P O Box 354, Maurice, La. 70555
