Welcome to the Trahan
Family Association internet web site. Our family association,
based in the heart of South Louisiana's Cajun Country was founded
from the sincere desire to recognize and maintain the continuity of
the Trahan Family throughout the world. This internet site provides
a new and far-reaching way for all Trahan Family members from around
the world to connect and learn more about their ancestry and
heritage.
Guillaume Trahan was the only Trahan who came to "Acadie"
from France back in the year 1636, as a family group, along with two
other families. Direct descendants of Guilliame have
been migrating throughout North America and the world for over 360
years. In August of 1994, more than 300,000 Acadians from around the
world gathered in Canada for the first Congres Mondial
Acadien. Many of that number were Louisiana
Cajuns.
The just
completed Congres Mondial Acadian was a giant success. The
events included many family reunions, theater festivals,
genealogical presentations, historical tours, concerts, academic
conferences and festival-like activities. Family reunions were a
major theme in all of the events, which carried the theme
"Ensemble Encore."
